Psychologists have performed many experiments to test the effectiveness of drawings. For example, people can often recognize objects more easily from drawings. A drawing offers the possibility to clarify structural or conceptual information that may be difficult to perceive in a photograph. The designer removes the irrelevant realistic details that contribute to perceptual clutter. The result is that it is often easier to convey information with a drawing than a photograph.
