CS348B Spring 2013 Rendering Competition

The renderings below were created for the rendering competition in CS348B: Image Synthesis Techniques, taught by Matt Pharr in the Spring quarter of 2013. -->
Grand Prize

Candles
by Ben Mildenhall

Ben used subsurface scattering and volume rendering to generate candles and flames.

First Prize

Silicon Wafers
by Mingyu Gao and Jing Pu

Mingyu and Jing simulated diffraction and interference to render wavelength dependent effects on silicon wafers.

Second Prize

Bioluminescence
by Chris Fontas and Forrest Browning

Chris and Forrest rendered a bioluminescent fish using multi-scattered light with volumetric photon mapping.
